Sheldon Independent School District, located in the booming corridor northeast of Houston – Texas, is the second fastest-growing school district in the Houston area. In the past five years, Sheldon ISD’s student population has grown 24 percent, or roughly one 700-student elementary school campus a year. By 2025, Sheldon ISD will have 15,000 students; nearly double its current pupil population.
To handle the growth, Sheldon ISD rezoned students at its eight elementary schools and made plans to build a new 570,000-square-foot collegiate-inspired campus on 185 wooded acres. The campus features a new comprehensive and professional high school that will house up to 3,500 students; a new 10,000-seat football stadium; and several athletic facilities, including a track, baseball and softball fields, and tennis courts. Plans for a new elementary school, and renovations to the existing middle and high schools are also underway.
