An Antimicrobial Treatment for Artificial Sports Field Infill Systems

Target Technologies International (TTII) is pleased to be the first to offer an antimicrobial infill system treated with the unique TurfAide™ technology, by SportCoatings a division of the Coatings Specialist Group (CSG). Powered by the ÆGIS Microbe Shield® technology, TurfAide™ provides a colorless, odor less layer of antimicrobial protection in the infill (both crumb rubber and silica sand). This layer prevents the growth of bacteria, mold, fungi and algae on your synthetic sports field surface.

Registered with the EPA, the ÆGIS Microbe Shield® has been safely used in consumer goods ranging from shoes to diapers and in medical products from clean rooms to surgical dressings for 30 years.

"What makes the ÆGIS Microbe Shield unique is that it functions through a physical mode-of-action versus the chemical poisoning associated with traditional antimicrobials," said Curtis White, Chairman and CEO of ÆGIS. "This physical mode-of-action prevents microbes from adapting to the shield so there is no ability for 'super bugs' to develop resistance."

When applied to a sports surface like infill sand or rubber, TurfAide™ creates a positively charged molecular bond around the materials that will not dissipate or be absorbed by other organisms.
